The Des Moines Electrical Apprenticeship Training Trust is a nonprofit organization that is jointly sponsored by the Des Moines chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association, NECA and Local Union #347 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. It is the responsibility of the Des Moines Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, JATC, to provide training to the apprentices and journeyman of the organized electrical industry within the jurisdiction of Local #347.
The JATC is made up of eight committee members. Four members of the committee are appointed by LU#347 IBEW and 4 members of the committee are appointed by the Des Moines chapter of NECA. Those committee members are the trustees for the Des Moines Electrical Apprenticeship Training Trust and are responsible for the oversight of the trust.
The Des Moines JATC has trained for the last 20 years through the Iowa Electrical Apprenticeship as a participating member of that trust.
The Des Moines JATC has traditionally trained between 175 and 230 apprentices annually, in the three disciplines of the program, while providing continuing education courses for over 1000 Des Moines area journeyman in a normal code cycle.
The Trust's mission is to educate the members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and National Electrical Contractors Association; insuring and providing the electrical industry with the most professionally trained and highly skilled workforce possible.
